She received the ASUS Prime H410M-A board and a Pentium Gold G6500 processor. The power supply she had only a 4-pin CPU connector, so would I need a different PSU with an 8-pin connector?

Technically it wasn't, but which PSU was used? It seems like a very outdated and possibly obsolete unit for me.

It's a FSP Group 450W 80 Plus power supply. It came with a 4-pin + 4-pin connector, but that wasn't included. I discovered it in my shed and it performs excellently when used with a test rig.

These models are commonly found in the 450W+PSU category, and yes, they usually come with specific model numbers.

It appears to be a Novatech-branded power supply unit, specifically the PowerStation 450. It might be an OEM product. I haven't encountered Novatech before.
