Set up a secure NAS on your ASUS AC66U B1 LAN. Connect the external drive via USB 3.0 and ensure Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk is active with guest login turned off. The router advises against enabling guest login, but disabling it causes issues when you double-click the router—no prompt appears, preventing access. You've also enabled SMB 1.0 on Windows 10.

Check this page: https://www.asus.com/uk/support/FAQ/1011278. Also turn off SMB version 1.0 as it's outdated and unsafe.
