ASUS MAXIMUS VIII RANGER motherboard offers robust performance and reliable features.
Is the ASUS MAXIMUS VIII RANGER compatible with the latest AMD chips? Are there any AMD models supported at all? And can the Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 run Zen 3 processors?
The maximus is a specialized Intel board. The Ab350M isn't compatible with Zen 3 A, as shown by quick searches online.
I tried but encountered some technical issues and didn’t grasp anything. Noted the Ab350m uses AMD4, but I’m unsure if that’s required. Also discovered the Maximized model supports Intel, though I don’t know if it’s exclusive or simply the preferred option.
Essentially it depends on the socket and chipset. AMD uses the AM4 socket with chipsets like a320, b350, x370, b450, x470, a520, b550, and x570. Zen 3 is available on all 500 series chipsets from AMD after a BIOS update, and will be offered on some b450 and x470 boards later. Intel runs on LGA1200 with chipsets such as H410, B460, H470, Q470, and Z490.
Currently there are none available. The most you can do is obtain a board featuring a BIOS flashback that allows updates without needing a CPU. So far, there are no alternatives. You might begin noticing updated BIOS boards in about a month. Zen 4 won't be supported on the AM4 socket that will be introduced in a new design.
