I was searching for a premium Z490 motherboard and noticed this ASUS product. It seems to offer strong overclocking capabilities, especially for the CPU and RAM. Do you have any insights on the Maximus Apex series? Also, why does this board only have two RAM slots instead of four? Could that indicate it uses single-channel memory rather than dual-channel? Does it support Intel Iris Xe GPUs? Looking forward to your feedback!

Apex is designed for pushing performance beyond limits. Two dimm slots offer better signal quality compared to four dimm boards. It’s fine with a moderate overclocker, but you’ll face constraints in memory options—choosing 64 GB RAM means 2x32 GB is pricier and harder to source than 32 GB for a 2x16 GB setup. Overall, it’s a solid build with a strong BIOS and comparable performance for OC CPUs to Extreme.
I understand. It only allows dual channel with two dimming options. The board I'm planning to use is here: https://www.gskill.com/product/165/299/1...GB-(2x8GB). The 16GB should suffice for me as gaming is my main priority.
All boards work with dual channel. The number of dimms isn't related to the channel count. Two dimm boards contain one dimm per channel. Four dimm boards feature two dims per channel. Intel consumer boards (like Z490) support dual channel. HEDT and server boards offer more channels.
