I've watched several GPU overclocking videos and forums. I experimented with it and noticed a slight boost in FPS by 4-5 in some games. Is it really worth the effort? Also, I'm not getting consistent FPS in titles like Assassin's Creed or Far Cry. Will tweaking the processor or GPU help?

Only a small boost indicates limited overclocking. (After tuning my GPU and CPU, my CS:GO frame rate jumped from 300 to well above 500.) If your performance wavers, game settings might be too aggressive.

It seems like the value here depends on the specific card, but overall most people agree it’s useful. If you create your own account, it might improve stability a bit. However, using the 970 in your setup should already give you consistent performance.

Overclocking varies for each chip, especially between Intel and AMD. The best approach is to take a break and gradually increase the settings while checking stability. Also, note that my recent overclock didn’t hold up well—my PC would crash occasionally. (Right now everything runs at default speed.)

I notice the system runs at 970Hz by default. Perhaps adjusting the overclock or reducing in-game settings could help. The FX 8150 might be limiting your GPU performance.
