ASUS DIGI+ VRM
ASUS DIGI+ VRM
It’s best to avoid pushing the 2700 too hard on that board. I’d hold off another week or two for the B550 release, hoping prices stabilize again. You might find a B450-A Pro/Gaming Plus/Mortar/Tomahawk from MSI now, which supports a 3900X at stock levels. They also mentioned these could run Zen 3 with a Beta BIOS update. If you wait, many B550 models seem strong in VRM and features, though they’re likely just slightly cheaper or similar to their X570 versions. I can’t confirm if they’ll be worth it yet. If you need immediate compatibility with Ryzen 4000 and the ability to run a 3950X even with PBO (above stock speeds), consider a Prime X570-P or TUF X570-PLUS from ASUS—typically around $160 and $180 respectively. There’s also an MSI X570 Tomahawk, though it hasn’t been released yet.
Wait for the B550 or opt for a Tomahawk Max, M168 Max, or X570. Get a TUF X570 or a Prime Pro—they’re solid choices. Avoid MSI models for the budget X570; they often have many BIOS issues and poor build quality.
I was referring to the X570-P, the most affordable X570 board ASUS provides. It’s quite minimal yet offers very strong VRMs and comes with a fair price. The Prime X570-Pro is an upgrade; it resembles the Strix X570-F, only with a different design and possibly missing BIOS flashback functionality, though otherwise they’re nearly identical. You can review the forum’s motherboard tier list for a quick overview of VRM and power delivery capabilities. All the boards I mentioned earlier fall into tier A, which should comfortably handle a 16-core 3950X.
Thanks for your assistance. It's great to see good individuals remaining. Wishing you a pleasant day.
I really don’t have anything to say about the B450 Prime Plus. It’s always worked for me, offering solid BIOS options and plenty of tweaking possibilities. It handles both CPU and RAM overclocking without any issues.
