The South chipset overheated, so you removed the cooling components and applied dry thermal paste. You're wondering if regular Noctua paste is safe to use or if it could cause further damage.

Use any thermal paste you like; it should work. The only sure way to destroy the chip is by overpressure (unless you build a custom mount) or dropping the heatsink. At 775°C, working with the nb chipset is typical—I even installed a tech cooler and it held up. After adding the cooler, the BIOS shows 87, confirming it functions. The tower sits on top of the cooler, not the CPU. I removed the foam insulation for better contact, but it didn’t cause any damage so far—though it’s pointless since the board was already compromised from the start, even with a modified BIOS.

The heatsink remains in place. Likely from December 2013. Probably fits the FX 9590. It seems to be a problem with overheating.

It's been quite some time since I've encountered those terms.
