Someone at Micro Center mentioned that using a 4.0 graphics card with PCI-E lane and a M.2 4.0 NVMe drive might reduce the NVMe speed to 3.0. I searched for confirmation but most sources say it should work fine. Since you're building for a friend and prefer reliability, opting for fewer components that could fail seems wise.

You can run a Gen 4 X16 GPU together with a Gen 4 X4 M.3 at the same time on the board.

The Micro Center model is a recently added addition. This B550 Ryzen 3000/5000 chip features 20 PCI-E 4.0 lanes, with 16 dedicated to the GPU and 4 reserved for the main NVMe M.2 slot. It maintains PCI-E 3.0 performance in the second M.2 port since those lanes come from the B550 chipset.

I wasn't sure about anything else he mentioned—it was just one point that kept me worried since I set up the PC. Without proper testing, I wasn't confident discussing it, but looking it up confirmed it has 20 4.0 PCI-e lanes. That answer gives me some peace of mind. Thanks.
