Hello, I’m trying to purchase the Asus B550-E Gaming for the 3700X. I noticed it supports PCIe 3.0 for CPU connections, but I’m not sure what that means. Also, it seems only one M.2 slot can be used, which is sufficient for my needs. Could you clarify these points? Your explanation would be really helpful. Thank you!

overkill board suits Ryzen 9s at its cost. It matches your PCIe 3 requirement. The chipset supports it. The Ryzen line also includes a M.2 port directly linked to the CPU—on the B550 it operates PCIe 4.0 x4, while the B550-E offers two M.2 slots in total.

The lanes connected to the CPU are 4.0, while chipset lanes are 3.0. It seems like an expensive board with no significant advantages. For boards, the B550 Strix F, Tomahawk, Mortar, Pro, and Aorus Pro are all reasonable choices.

I'm considering the NVIDIA SLI 2070 Super. I intend to purchase the 2070 Super now and possibly add another one later, like a 2070 Super or another GPU. The B550 F isn't compatible since it doesn't support it.

You're right, the Strix FX doesn't support PCIe switchers. Even if it worked, Switch is not ideal for gaming and offers minimal performance gains without good scalability. Upgrading to a better GPU would be a smarter choice at that point.

Yes, but you'll need a board that supports PCIe switches. As I mentioned, just avoid it.
