Hi, I’m checking if anyone could confirm whether you can add another PCIe Gen 4 drive to your system. Right now you have a 980 Pro 1TB and a GPU, and you’re wondering if it would work at Gen 4 speeds or if it would be limited to Gen 3. Your concern about the 970 EVO Plus being on sale is also worth noting. Thanks for your help!

Obtain a riser card and insert it into the second x16 port. Be aware this will change the top x16 slot to an x8 connection, which is negligible for PCIe 4.0. Which GPU are you using?

i’m okay with just supporting pcie gen 3. i don’t mind sacrificing some gpu performance but want to stay within a budget. the 980 pro costs £67, while the 970 eo plus is £42 for 1tb.
