Asus AImesh fails to locate the node.
I own the RT-AX58U as my main router, linked to the ISP modem. Firmware is current and configured in "wireless router mode." The RT-AC66U B1 is permanently connected to the main router, running the latest firmware and set as an AP/AI mesh router in AP mode. Everything is factory default except the router login, which includes the default WiFi settings. I'm attempting to configure Aimesh, but in the main router's network map the "find AIMesh node" doesn't appear. The help center and online guides suggest updating firmware and performing a factory reset to defaults. They also mention that the AP should be placed close to the router for optimal performance. Since the AP is hardwired, it seems straightforward, but I'm unsure why Aimesh isn't locating it.
Set up the AImesh on Wi-Fi with the device positioned near the router. Restart the node and avoid entering credentials until it stabilizes, or alter the login settings (it changes automatically on first access). This method doesn<|pad|> to work over CAT. Find the node adjacent to the router, power it on, and gently press the reset button until it lights up—this may take a few minutes. Do not interact with the node afterward. Connect to the router, locate the mesh node, and once connected, you can relocate it and link via CAT.
