Asus Ai Suite II irreversible overclocking product
These are the details of my current system configuration:
Processor: AMD FX 4350 4.3GHz OC (NOT ANYMORE)
Motherboard: M5A97 EVO R2.0
RAM: HyperX FURY Series 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz CL10
Storage: WD 1TB Black Drive 7200 RPM
Graphics: Gigabyte Radeon R7 250 OC 2GB GDDR5
Case: Corsair Spec-03 Orange
Additional components: Network card and Blu-ray R/W
Power supply: Corsair CX430M
Other features: Blu-Ray R/W drive + Network card
I kept my CPU frequency at the recommended overclock of 4.3 GHz, which was configured by AMD overdrive. Recently, I attempted auto-tuning using the Asus AI suite II. I chose the extreme overclock setting because I enjoy taking risks and want to push performance. The adjustment raised the clock speed to 4.6GHz. This proved unstable; even short gaming sessions (just a few minutes) on moderately demanding games caused my PC to crash. There’s no way to revert back to the original setting in the Asus AI suite. I reset my BIOS by removing the battery, which displayed a lower speed of 4.2GHz on the maximum CPU monitor, yet when I booted into the operating system it still showed 4.6GHz across all checks (AMD overdrive, HWiNFO64, including the Asus AI suite). The most frustrating part is that altering the CPU settings in the AI suite still leads to crashes, regardless of changes. The only workaround so far is adjusting Windows’ power management, which limits the speed to 4.45GHz at 97% or 3.9GHz at 96%. I’m hoping to return to the original 4.3GHz setting, which worked well before. Please assist!
Hey Me.
Consider attempting the following actions in this specific sequence:
1. Remove and reinsert MOBO battery (it won’t be effective, but proceed)
2. Return RADEON SETTINGS to factory defaults
3. Restart and enter BIOS
4. Reset to default settings
5. Restart immediately and access BIOS
6. Navigate to the AI tweaker tab in advanced mode
7. Change all tabs from manual to AUTO
8. Power on the PC
9. If nothing has changed, repeat steps 5–7 and manually restart to Windows
Follow these steps in this order; it should likely work.
REMEMBER to save the current CPU configuration as a profile in AMD Overdrive, the BIOS, and AI suite II to prevent this from recurring.
