Hello. You're starting out, and you have an Asus Prime a320m-k board with a Ryzen 1500X and a GTX 1060 with 6GB VRAM. You're playing at 144Hz and noticed that newer GPUs aren't running games at their previous frame rates. You're thinking about upgrading and wondering if a Ryzen 7 3700X would fit well with your motherboard, possibly paired with an RTX 3060. You're also considering buying a used CPU because you can't afford much. Would a Ryzen 5 3600X be suitable at 144fps with the 3060?
A 3600 unit should suffice for the 3060. But neither the 3600 nor the 3700X fits well with the A320 board. A320 boards are limited to compatible high-end CPUs and Ryzen 3 chips.
I’d expect a 3600 and a B550 board. Or even better, hold off for another two weeks until the Zen 3 release.
A new line of Ryzen processors is arriving soon? Appreciate it! If so, I'll hold off and also purchase a compatible motherboard. Thanks!
