Assisting a friend with upgrading his PC is challenging since the new cooler comes with a different backplate. All the AMD setups they see use an AM4 base, while this model uses a Foundation PC from nzxt. The cooler they received had screws that secured it, but we’re unsure how to fit it correctly.
Did you verify the included case for the motherboard? It seems most AM4 boards come with the standard backplate, possibly left behind during installation.

The cooler was included with the backplate shown in the photo. We searched everywhere for the original AM4 backplate but couldn't find it, so we're considering purchasing this DGZZI AM4 Backplane Back Durable CPU Heatsink Bracket Motherboard CPU Fan Cooling Mounting Sheet Plate for AM4 and AMD socket.
We're considering purchasing a stock AM4 backplate DGZZI AM4 Backplane Back Durable CPU Heatsink Bracket for Motherboards. It includes a CPU fan cooling mount and is compatible with AM4 sockets. You can find it on Amazon at the provided link.
He likely purchased the PC with the motherboard, processor, and cooler already set up. Review the original packaging for clues. Also, verify compatibility of the old cooler's backplate with the current model.
It's the NZXT Foundation PC, pre-installed with its own cooler and backplate. We attempted all possible fixes to get the included backplate to function, but we couldn't find the original AM4 version.
