You're looking to extend your gaming setup from your PC to the living room using HDMI and USB connections. You're considering a wireless setup with a hub for controllers and wondering about the best configuration for up to four players, similar to Xbox style. Your questions revolve around whether each controller needs its own receiver, compatibility of third-party devices with an official receiver, and if there are convenient third-party options available.

The Xbox Wireless Adapter can handle up to 8 controllers. It works with any Xbox-compatible device, though most third-party options are wired. Some models like the Scuf Prestige are wireless and should function, but they cost around $169. For budget-friendly choices, consider used controllers.

Each controller comes with its own USB receiver when using wireless options. I’m not sure how strong the signal is through walls, so it might be worth setting up a USB hub in the room with your TV and using wired controllers instead. Just have a USB extension cord connect back to your PC.
