Searching for guidance on configuring a NAS on Windows 11 without a full wipe. I've experimented with various setups using Docker, PowerShell, and Nextcloud admin accounts, but faced persistent issues like missing tables and privilege errors. The Docker desktop method worked for installing everything, yet I’m stuck using a domain I wanted to avoid. I’m exploring free alternatives and want options that keep things online without extra costs. My NAS setup involves a DAS, and I’m considering linking it to Nextcloud for file sharing via the iOS app. Need recommendations or better solutions? I’ve been struggling non-stop over the past few days.

Side tangent... Why not a simple EXE for Windows? I'm getting really frustrated. Just let me double-click, pick a folder to share, set it up locally, or add a domain with a password so I can upload all my photos and videos anytime, anywhere for free. I won't pay for storage when I already have plenty in my DAS. I just want to get it online so I can access everything on my phone instantly—doesn't that seem too much to ask?

Are you considering OwnCloud as an alternative to GSuite or Office? If your goal is simply sharing files across a network, Windows handles it without needing extra programs. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...f9994725bf Use a VPN service such as WireGuard for remote access. https://www.wireguard.com/

You can leverage Windows' native file sharing features, install WireGuard, and configure your home IP to connect seamlessly. Access any file app to gain entry!

Use the official Nextcloud AIO with Docker Desktop on Windows. Map your storage or DAS path to a volume. Avoid purchasing a domain; instead, configure a free DuckDNS hostname and route port 443 through your router to the container. This enables your iOS app to connect without a paid domain. For SSL, Let’s Encrypt will manage it once the DuckDNS name is correct. If you prefer not to deal with Docker issues on Windows, consider launching a lightweight Linux VM via Hyper-V or VirtualBox. The AIO script runs more smoothly there and keeps your Windows setup intact. You won’t need to reinstall Windows or pay for a domain. Choose either Docker + DuckDNS or a small VM for a simpler setup. Both options let you access Nextcloud from your iPhone and use it as your NAS front-end.
