It looks like backlight bleed or possibly panel damage. Sadly, if it’s physical damage there isn’t really a fix other than replacing the panel monitor. If it’s just bleed, sometimes lowering brightness can help make it less noticeable, but it usually can’t be fully fixed. Is it still under warranty? That would be the best option.

It seems like you're questioning how something can appear to bleed without any visible cause. There might be a physical explanation behind it.

The monitor appears severely damaged and is likely beyond repair. A change is necessary if you notice unusual colors or if the issue bothers you.

It's interesting what you're considering. Being old can be a blessing, remember? I recall when I accidentally hit my monitor as a young, hot-headed teenager—my hand ended up there instead of the screen. CRT panels were tougher back then. If it looks like that, it probably means the mesh filters are broken, letting in light at wrong wavelengths. The damage is real and fixing it costs more than replacing the whole thing.
