Assistance needed for OC AMD Athlon ii x2 250!!
I understand this isn't the top CPU, but I'm trying to learn overclocking. I'm using one of these as a starting point and hoping to improve it. The current settings are what I have so far.
CPU frequency: 231.0 MHz
Multiplier: x15.0 → 3000MHZ
CPU base frequency: 4.00x
HT Over Voltage: 1.22
CPU Over Voltage: 1.40
VDDNB Over Voltage: Auto
Load line: 58.05%
Memory clock: 400MHZ
Memory over voltage: 1.545
Chipset over voltage: 1.23
I've been adjusting these values based on the information provided. After saving them, the system restarts and I enter Prime 95 with monitoring tools. The test ran for about an hour without issues—temperatures stayed stable and no crashes occurred. Then I rebooted and encountered an overclock failure message in the BIOS.
I'm wondering what adjustments should be made to keep the overclock stable.
I possess an older BIOS file, which means I don't have a UEFI setup and I'm unsure about connecting the OC RAM with this MB.
My 270 previously reached 4.0 - 4.1 GHz at 1.5v with the Phenom II x6 cooler. It starts as a 62W processor and can be overclocked significantly.
So I reached up to 3.7ghz and everything worked well. I ran it with Prime 95 for about an hour. The core temperature was around 31°C and the socket was 41°C. Everything looked stable. Now I restarted my computer and it reported overclock failed, sending me back to the beginning. Despite passing all tests and booting up the first time, restarting causes it to fail again.
