Assistance needed for a new PC: 5 repeated beeps during startup followed by normal operation
Hello tech enthusiasts,
My brother recently purchased a new PC and we're facing an unusual problem. Whenever he starts it up, it emits five continuous beeps, and the screen remains blank for roughly ten seconds. Once that happens, the system displays the Windows 11 login screen and functions perfectly, performing well during gaming and other regular tasks. We've inspected all connections to ensure everything is correctly installed, but the issue appears only during boot-up and restarts. The PC is only a week old and still has a three-year warranty on all parts.
Here are the specifications:
CPU: Intel Core i5-14400F
RAM: Lexar 16GB DDR5 5600MHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte H610M K V2 DDR5
PSU: Corsair 550W
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5050 WINDFORCE 8GB
Any advice on what might be causing this would be very helpful.

The lowest acceptable power supply for this setup should be a 550w unit. Corsair what 500w PSU? What BIOS version are you running? You might want to upgrade it to the latest one for optimal compatibility. These boards can remain unused on the shelf, so don't ship them with the newest BIOS pre-installed.
Thank you for your response. We are planning to send it back to the store where we purchased it and inquire about possible solutions. As you mentioned, we may need to adjust the PSU as well. We'll keep an eye on the situation. I will update the page once the issue is resolved. Appreciate your time and assistance.
I resolved it; the problem was related to a
monitor cable. The monitor only supported
VGA and
DVI ports, while the GPU required
HDMI and Display Ports. My brother used an
HDMI to DVI converter to link the PC to the monitor. Once I switched to the new monitor and connected directly with an
HDMI to HDMI cable, the issue disappeared. I don’t understand why it happened before, but it’s now fixed. Thank you for your help.
