I want to purchase RAM but I’m not great at choosing the best options and timing. Right now I own one stick of 8GB HyperX Fury RAM, which is 1600MHz, but I’m not sure if that’s right. My motherboard only has two RAM slots because it’s a compact model. The RAM uses DDR3 technology. What speed should I aim for and what should I look for? Please assist me.

The main issue is that even with identical brands, speeds, and timings, there remains a risk RAMs won't function properly together.

Search for the most affordable 8GB uncompressed, full-size DDR3 DIMMs available on eBay. Buying more than necessary for a DDR3 setup isn't wise. Right now, this appears to be the lowest price you'll find. https://www.ebay.com/itm/324592225500?ep...d%3APL_CLK Unless you can locate one on FB Marketplace or Craigslist for a better deal, this is the best option available.]

I’d suggest using one 8GB stick just like yours unless it’s not feasible or too costly compared to what others offer. The alternative might not be reliable. The best chance is checking the QVL for your system and purchasing a 2x8 memory set from a model that matches. Kits generally have higher success rates than single sticks, and the QVL confirms compatibility with your motherboard.

You can simply purchase a DDR3 module of 8GB with a similar frequency, ideally matching the same MHz range. (Focus more on MHz than brand) If you haven’t boosted your RAM yet, it should align with the MHz shown in Task Manager.

I place my order for rams from a reliable supplier in my country, allowing returns if needed and if that doesn't work.

This approach may be effective. The closer the matches are, the higher the likelihood of success, though it never reaches absolute zero or certainty. This method performs best when you can provide returns. Begin with the most affordable options and return them if unsuccessful—there’s a chance you’ll still gain.
