Today I experienced a significant problem by removing my main Windows installation while attempting to install it on another drive. The main concerns are: the original installation is missing, the setup used a mirrored configuration via the disk manager, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to restore the installation.

You essentially structured the storage device. For a quick format, there might be hope with certain tools to retrieve the information. If it had been overwritten, your chances of recovery are very low.

When you set up Windows on another drive, it should apply formatting to the new drive, not the previous one. However, if you place a fresh Windows installation in a new partition, there could be issues. I believe the problem arises because the bootloader is moved to the new drive, which means you can only boot into Windows there. You might want to check the contents of the old Windows drive.
