I'm working with a surface laptop and trying to set up Linux, but it's not installing properly. I've flashed PureOS onto a big enough USB drive, turned off Secure Boot and TPM, and disabled all other boot settings except USB storage. Still, it keeps restarting to the Surface UEFI screen or going straight to Windows even when USB storage is above it. I'm unsure what else I should do and would really appreciate any help you can provide.

Pureos is a lightweight distro focused on simplicity and stability. Choosing Ubuntu or similar systems can offer better support for specialized drivers, which might be useful for a surface laptop.

I've completed extensive research and it's the safest option for my goals. But if you believe I have stronger chances with Ubuntu or Mint, I'd definitely consider trying something else.

Confirm if your operating system can handle the required hardware, like ARM devices.
