Assist with optimizing FX 6300 FX settings
Hello, Your system details are noted: FX 6300 with stock cooler, M5A78L-M/USB3, 2x4GB 1600Mhz RAM, GTX 750 GPU. Temperatures stayed stable during stress tests (62C and 64C after 30 mins) with idle temps around 21.4C and 37C. The VCore reached up to 1.42V at 4.12GHz turbo. BIOS only lets you raise voltage, not lower it. You can either keep auto-voltage and turn off turbo boost, or try overclocking with voltages below 1.375V. Any advice would be appreciated.
The BIOS doesn't offer offset settings. I can only view CPU, HT, and Memory Over Voltage with 0.01V steps.
Have you considered adjusting the LLC configuration? A reduced LLC might prevent voltage spikes. I’m not very experienced with older boards.
I can locate LLC that is configured to auto and offers choices ranging from 0.20 to 100% in the menu.
This setup is quite different from the LLC configurations I'm familiar with. Typically they range from 1 to 6, so it's unclear which will provide more VDroop to keep voltage lower under load. If you're confident, you might want to experiment with the options. Otherwise, consulting the manual could be a safer choice.
The system uses legacy BIOS settings, making it difficult to retrieve detailed information. I asked for clarification on what adjustments would be helpful.
The LLC configurations help adjust the VDroop during CPU stress. In recent BIOS versions, a smaller number results in less voltage drop. Sometimes even higher voltage is applied when under load. I found information suggesting 0% LLC causes the biggest drop, while 100% may not reduce voltage at all. Since I’m unfamiliar with my system, I can’t confirm this definitively. Testing a 50% setting might provide a balanced and safe outcome for your configuration.
Keep the turbo boost active. Check if voltages vary when under load and whether the system remains stable if they decrease.
