Hey, I got some malware too and I'm not sure if I'm completely clean yet. I tried using Malwarebytes to clean it up, but the scan didn't show anything, even though Windows says quarantine failed. My NZXT support mentioned that the downloads come in as .exe files instead of ZIP. Anyone have any advice on how to proceed?
Remove the attachment, scan it, then download NZXT's executable file.
If you cannot operate an AV software, make a bootable USB from one of them... Malwarebytes, Kaspersky and others provide solutions to generate a bootable USB for cleaning a system heavily compromised.
You just performed a factory reset and reinstalled Windows from the cloud. At this point, Windows isn’t recognizing any changes, but I can check if malware might still be present in the BIOS or GPU. Would you like me to investigate further for signs of infection there? Also, how often do such infections typically occur in BIOS/GPU?
I wouldn't be concerned about this, but I’d definitely ensure your bios stays current, particularly with older motherboards that often receive updates for security issues. Even on newer boards, I’d always keep the bios updated to maintain optimal performance.
Open Windows key + X and select Apps and Features. Check if NSXT is installed; if yes, remove it. Go to C:\Users\kpumi\Downloads\ and delete NSXT-CAM-Setup.zip. On another device, download the Cam driver from https://nzxt.com/software/cam. You don’t need Avast Anti-Virus or similar protection software—Avast is for malware removal only. Windows Security functions adequately on its own. Consider using Avast Clear Utility to uninstall Avast.
Thanks for reaching out! Your PC is crashing frequently, which makes it tough. I’m glad you found the advice helpful. Let’s try to fix this together.
