Assist with boosting performance of FX6300 using Gigabyte 78LMT-S2
It's a micro ATX motherboard, as you can see from quick searches. I'm unable to open my case for personal reasons, so I don't want to risk having to reset the CMOS because I won't be able to. On my BIOS, I currently have the FX6300 with default settings (Turbo 4.1GHz and 3.5Ghz real clock). I'm wondering how much I can push it without having to reset everything or risking failure. My system includes: FX6300, 8GB RAM DDR3, Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 board, onboard ATI Radeon HD 3000 graphics, 500W power supply. Thank you in advance!
There's no way of knowing that - overclocking is all about trial and error. I would be prepared to have to reset the CMOS at least a few times if your motherboard isn't one that automatically goes into fail-safe mode if it fails to POST. That being said, a great many FX6300's can get to around 4.4/1.4V, but some can hit 4.4 at lower voltages, or clock higher than 4.4 at 1.4V. You'll just have to play around with it.
