You have a 1TB SSD with two partitions—C for the operating system and general use, and D for games. You're moving to a 512GB SSD and need to transfer the OS from your D: partition to the C: partition. Since your 1TB is in GPT format, you can't clone it directly without including D: which won’t fit on the smaller drive. There are free tools like Clonezilla or GParted that let you create a separate copy of only the C: partition, avoiding the D: partition. This way, you’ll keep your 512GB SSD and still have space for the OS and applications.

You're considering creating a fresh start by wiping everything and starting over. A complete reinstall is the way to go, especially if you're moving from an old drive to a new one.
