Assign the SuperScan task.
Do you know how to run superscan or the Network Utility’s port scan tool? I need help with this assignment—I’m completely unsure. (20 points) Start scanning a random IP range for typical ports. Run an unusual telnet session to three different ports on three distinct machines, mimicking mailer-daemon behavior, HTTP GET requests, connecting to DNS TCP ports, and more.
I don't aim to complete your task for you, but a random IP range could include options like 169.168.1.1/56 or 132.29.1.1/56. It looks like any range should work as long as the port returns from the application. The next phase would involve using three different computers—preferably virtual machines—and inputting those ports. If you reach working websites, your assignment will be done.
Just a note—be careful if you're testing at home and choose the wrong IP ranges, as it might lead to your IP being added to blacklists due to suspicious scanning activity. If this is meant for a school project, they should supply a proper range. In certain regions, performing such scans could even be against the law.
