I’d just hold off, the 3600 remains a solid CPU, particularly with the latest Ryzen chips replacing the old AM4. Skip this generation.

I’ve seen the video shared by someone and feel inclined to agree. Perhaps revisit the situation in six months; the CPU isn’t causing any issues right now. I think I can grab the 3800x for around £350, which isn’t too high, though the improvement might only be clear in certain games rather than a big jump. I’m unlikely to upgrade the second machine either—using a 3600 and an RTX 2060 looks like a solid setup. I’ll keep playing new titles for a while. Maybe when prices fall, I’ll check again. I don’t mind owning cutting-edge hardware, but I prefer something reasonably good. I’m really excited about Forza Horizon 5; I hope it performs well on both systems once it releases. The idea of a new display is tempting, but I know PC gaming can be quite costly!

It really doesn't matter with such a powerful CPU. An i5-10k can push a 3080 or an RX6800 both overclocked at 8k while gaming. I'd suggest upgrading to a M2 SSD 4.0 or improving your internet connection. *assuming you're using a Ryzen 5-7*

I'm using only SSD storage right now. The main drive appears to be a Western Digital M2-2280 model—hard to decipher the small text. Everything runs smoothly, but I'd like to boost performance a bit if possible, since I plan to upgrade to a 4K 144Hz display. A 144p screen would work well enough. I enjoy gaming on my living room TV, which operates at 60Hz, though it's still fine. Switching to a 1080p 144Hz monitor would make the difference in fluidity really clear. It’s only about 22 inches, so you won’t see the images in full detail. I’m thinking about combining them somehow!

Win 11 is expected to offer better SSD integration for gaming. The 2280 compares favorably to the 4.0 PCIe version. WD BLUE SSD M.2 2280 delivers sequential read speeds of 550MB/s and write speeds of 525MB/s. In contrast, the WD BLACK interface supports up to 7,000 MB/s sequential reads and 5,300 MB/s writes. Your RAM specifications are also important—let me know your MHz and CL values. I’d also suggest a monitor upgrade or high-performance thermal solutions if you’re planning to invest.

I own a Ryzen 7 3700X and have never reached more than 24% usage. On Apex, I'm stuck at 120-200 FPS max while streaming in full quality and playing YouTube 4K for music at the same time, plus doing updates. It feels a bit too much for what I need.

That's a huge performance boost! Your setup seems ready for intense gaming. The price gap between options is noticeable, but the upgrade offers significant gains in speed and stability.

There are some concerns about overheating even with adequate cooling. I recommend the Thermalright FC140, available on Aliexpress. It truly performs well, having used several units. It handles high temperatures effectively, supporting my 5600X and 5900X, and should work nicely with the 5800X as well.

The 3600 seems to be reaching its boundaries with a 3070+ score. It's surprising how quickly daily tasks become more efficient after an upgrade. The experience improves in many games, though it varies depending on the titles you play.
