Yes, if you are a fan of Star Wars they are amazing, even if you are unfamiliar with the Star Wars universe the KOTOR games are still great fun and are some of the best single player RPG games made.
KOTOR 1 and 2 rank among my top games of all time. The main issue is the turn-based combat style; I’d prefer button-mashing for faster action, but BioWare has improved with DA2. I first played on Xbox, then got KOTOR1 via humble bundle a few months ago—still enjoyable. I added the 'Start as a Jedi' mod because the early sections are frustrating. KOTOR 2 was much better, especially with party member training options! I’m considering switching to Steam soon. Right now I’m at work—does KOTOR 2 have sales going on?
I think KOTOR 1 offers one of the most impressive plot reveals in a video game. It's definitely worth the cost.
