Asrock B650 HDV processor with lighting features available.
Hello, I'm experiencing a problem once a month where the CPU and RAM lights appear and the PC fails to boot. Usually I have to reinstall the RAM for it to work properly. My system has an ASRock B650 HDV, an Intel R5 7600X, and a Crucial Pro 32GB DDR5 5600MHz kit. I've tried lowering the RAM speed to 5200 or below, but the issue persists. Additionally, my GPU (3060) is overclocked, and I wonder if that's triggering these lights during startup. Could your RAM be causing this?
Turn off any overclocks and XMP settings. Try running Windows Memory Diagnostic to check for errors. It might indicate a faulty RAM module or incompatibility with higher speeds. Also verify if there are any BIOS updates available. The Ryzen 7000 and DDR5 have had memory problems before, and they’re often fixed with BIOS patches. If you haven’t updated the BIOS yet, it’s a good idea to do so.
Only one DDR5 board is present, while all your friends remain using DDR4.
Thanks, I've been updating my bios for three months now. The RAM I bought on Amazon for $70 was the cheapest I'd seen for a 32GB DDR5 model, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a good choice.
Typically, crucial items perform well, even when their more affordable versions are available.
It seems the issue might be linked to the memory kit rather than the kit itself. Crucial 5600 kits need specific BIOS tweaks to function properly; older BIOS versions can cause strange stability problems. Update the BIOS on your board to the latest release—full or beta—and test. If the system occasionally fails to power on, consider disabling Memory Context Restore, which can lead to boot delays of about 10 to 30 seconds.
