I made an impulsive purchase of my CPU because I truly wanted my PC assembled, and on the box of my motherboard it stated it’s 3000 ready. To manage everything better, I loaded all my components into PCBuilder, which warned about potential compatibility problems. I chose the Ryzen 5 3600 for its specifications. After some investigation, I realized I might need to update the BIOS to ensure proper functionality, so I wondered whether this ASRock board can perform a BIOS update without an existing CPU installed. If not, others suggested reaching out to AMD to see if they could provide a blank CPU for testing during the update. Anyone have insights on this setup or similar experiences? I’m becoming quite anxious about possibly buying the incorrect CPU and failing to boot my PC on build day.

The motherboard could just require a basic BIOS update for compatibility!

You can try updating the motherboard with your CPU, but if it doesn’t fit or you need a replacement, reaching out to AMD for a loaner is likely necessary.
