Always enjoyed solo gaming, preferring it over online interactions. Playing alone helps me unwind, not engage in frustrating debates.
My journey through gaming over the years. Early days 0-13 - focused on single-player RPGs and FPS games before multiplayer really took off outside PC. Around 13-20 - leaned toward FPS multiplayer since online consoles allowed long-distance play with friends. 20-present - still enjoy online sessions with friends, but when no one's around I opt for solo experiences like FO4 or DA:I instead of dealing with annoying lobbies. I've always favored story-driven games over social ones. Now that most of us are adults with responsibilities, I'm gradually returning to single-player only again.
I also connect with this. I really enjoy the Elder Scrolls series, and when Elder Scrolls Online launched, I didn't even notice the word "online" in the title. In my view, most players today are younger, at least based on what I've seen in online gaming. As you get older, that generation feels distant to you, and you tend to ignore things that seem childish. I play games mainly to unwind and escape from everyday stress. I'm 29 years old.
My favorite multiplayer experience was playing Left 4 Dead on Xbox 360. In the early days of CS:GO I’d spend countless hours daily and was part of a clan. Now at 35 I’m more interested in games for immersion and escape, not for winning matches. That’s okay for me. Everyone has their own style—don’t worry about those who love casual fun.
It's different for me now. At my late 20s I used to enjoy single-player games, but they feel too easy compared to competitive multiplayer. I prefer watching movies instead. I only play competitive matches and don’t mind not being the top player. I mute people I don’t want to interact with.
It seems you're wondering if the issue might be with the wrong game mode. Single-player shooters could be causing the problem.
