Artifacts in video or audio across various GPUs
Hello there! I assembled the PC about 40 days back. The monitor: LG CX (connected via HDMI 2.0), GPU: Asus RTX 2060, 12 GB CPU: Intel i5 11400f, motherboard: MSI MAG B560, power supply: Corsair RM550x 80 PLUS Gold, RAM: Crucial Ballistix BL2K16G32C16U4B (2x16 GB), SSD: Samsung 980 500 GB, case: Fractal Meshify 2, OS: Windows 10 64 bit. I updated the BIOS and enabled XMP. Right away, I noticed odd audio problems: the GPU signal would crackle or pop through the HDMI cable to the monitor at least once a minute. The Bluetooth audio stayed clear. I swapped out the monitor with another one from my old PC—it worked fine. I kept using the same cables and ports, but the issue persisted. I changed the HDMI port on the GPU, yet it didn’t help. Eventually, I tried reinstalling the latest Nvidia drivers via the standard uninstaller, but that didn’t fix it either. I reached out to the shop that sold me the GPU for a return, but the process took too long and I decided to delay it since the problem wasn’t critical. After 30 days, things got worse: the video would cut off every 40–50 seconds, sometimes with a “video format not supported” message lasting long enough to force a hard reboot. A clean driver reinstall with DDU resolved most issues—until I powered off the PC. The next morning it showed up but no video signal. It seems the GPU is failing, possibly permanently. I tried a replacement Radeon HD5450 on eBay; it worked without audio problems, though I noticed tiny green and purple lines on the screen when playing a Twitter video (about 1 cm long, very thin). At this stage, I’m either unlucky or suspect another problem. Can you confirm if the rest of my system is healthy and not contributing to GPU failure? Thanks!
Choose a newer GPU that works well with current OS, drivers, and browsers. Make sure it’s stable before checking for any broader system issues.
