I bought the new Arris S33 docsis 3.1 modem about a week ago. The internet has been dropping occasionally. I reset the router, but it still doesn’t work. After turning off the modem and restarting it, things improved for a short time. My PC is wired directly to the router, which is connected to the modem. Before that, I had a Netgear CM700 docsis 3.0 that performed well, but upgraded to Arris because my internet service with Comcast exceeded what the older modems could handle. Did I get a faulty device or am I missing something? I’m leaning toward returning it and trying another model. What should I do?

Did you connect straight to the modem without using the router? Consider switching to a 1Gb or 2.5Gb port. Use a Cat 6 cable if available.

Access the modem diagnostic pages and review the logs for detailed insights. Verify your signal strength using the provided link. Keep in mind that Docsis 3.1 imposes stricter limits compared to Docsis 3.0.

Interestingly, linking straight to the modem isn't functioning. I must rely on my router connection (wired). The problem lies with the modem shutting off, which stops when I reset it, but changing the router doesn't help. All levels and signals seem correct. Startup steps are complete. Status: Operational. Boot: OK. Configuration: Valid. Security active. BPI+ and DOCSIS enabled. Network access allowed. Bonded channels available. Modulation frequency stable. SNR/MER accurate. Uncorrectable values: 42. Locked QAM256 at 405 MHz, 7 dBmV. All parameters within range.
