I own a gaming laptop with the following details. The CPU temperature has been increasing significantly, reaching dangerously high levels of approximately 97–101°C, even during light tasks like streaming on platforms such as YouTube. Could there be an issue? Any advice would be appreciated. Attached screenshots illustrate the temperature trends.

Laptop Model: ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX517ZC-HN084WS (2022)
Specs: Display - FHD 144Hz, Processor - Intel Core i5-12450H, Graphics - 4GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050

Typical causes would include a malfunctioning fan or an airflow blockage, such as dust or pet hair. Have you performed any maintenance or opened the case before? Apart from temperature readings, is the device functioning properly? Were you purchasing it new and how recent is it?

Last year, the hinge of this laptop had to be replaced, along with the back cover due to broken screw sockets. While doing that, it was mentioned that the keyboard would also need fixing. The laptop was opened at an ASUS service centre, and I haven’t opened it since then.

Bro, I placed an order for a laptop cooling pad before realizing the temps hit 101°C. By then, it seems like a cooling pad won't fix this issue.

It seems the fan might not be functioning properly or the thermal paste could be dry. You may need to open the laptop and inspect or clean/replace components.
