Are your engine running hot or is your cooling system not working properly?
I received a water cooler today, specifically the ROG RYOU IV 360 ARGB Hatsune Miku Edition. After installation, I noticed my system would boot up around 60 degrees. Initially, I thought this was too high, especially since with an AIO I experienced a lot of noise—something I wanted to avoid. I'm trying to understand what I can adjust to lower the temperature. I maxed out the fan and pump settings in the BIOS, running the pump at full capacity, but it still didn’t bring things down much. I also switched the thermal paste to Thermal Grizzly from the original cooler. Under load (using Cinebench), the CPU temperature stayed similar. Eventually, I gave up and returned to my air cooler, which is much quieter and reaches around 60 degrees but drops back down to 50 or 40 before briefly spiking again. This has left me puzzled—am I seeing high idle temps? Or is there an issue with the cooler itself? I don’t have any clear answers yet.
It seems the setup wasn't comfortable or level against the CPU, which might mean the mounting hardware was misaligned or bent. You may not have properly installed the mount for your specific motherboard. Also, AIOs tend to be noisier than air, so temperatures were likely normal before. Were you doing this just for appearance?
