Are your CPU resources being restricted?
Hey there, I heard you got WatchDogs on a Steam sale and really enjoy it. For ease of setup, you went with NVidia Experience and it looks great. But you noticed some frame rate drops—around 50 to 60 frames per second turning into mid-30s, especially when driving in cars. The diagnostics showed the CPU was often at 100%. I understand your i5 2500 isn’t the newest model, but it still performed well back then and you didn’t plan on upgrading until later generations. (Yes, the non-K version is fine, and I get why skipping the K version seemed like a bad idea.) Can you find a way to lower the CPU load while playing? Since the game requires at least Core 2 Quad, there should be options to manage that. Let me know what you think!
Well, in this situation, the graphics panel comes back up again. I wasn’t expecting that, but I’m okay with the game having some bugs since I got it for a low price. It’s good to know my essential work stays safe for now, while I look for other ways to earn money.
Turning off the pagefile can improve performance, especially during gameplay. It reduces RAM consumption and may prevent stuttering while playing.
We also checked the passmark numbers for CPUs and the 2500 scores—about 6207 points versus 7780 on a 4690k. Whether it's a synthetic test or not, quick guesses: how much will the 2500 handle? The main driver for upgrading is running out of PCIe slots (wireless, audio card, GPU). More lanes might mean switching to an i7, but right now it seems sufficient. I’d prefer to delay upgrades unless it’s really urgent—previously, the predecessor was a Pentium 4. No worries about RAM usage at the moment.
I'd like to see the benefits of Skylake before considering an upgrade. However, WatchDogs isn't the top choice for PC ports right now.
