I'm trying to get some software from the internet that tells me I need a program like 7-zip or WinRAR to open it. These programs are in my toolbox, but their icons look like power stations and nothing more. When I try to use them, they take me straight to "Nuclear Installer," which installs junkware instead of doing anything useful. I've tried this with lots of other things too. Please help me out here.

That sounds suspicious, maybe it's a virus. You should run Malwarebytes or go to hitmanpro.com. Have you seen an installer named "Nuclear" before? Maybe that's what is causing the problem. Are you downloading something called Pipe FLo, and does that mean anything to you?

I don't know about Pipe Flop at all. I'm just downloading random things like secret files and programs while helping code for my job.

Hey! Could you please show me some pictures of those icons? If you upload them to an image site and send the link here, that would be great. Maybe you should ask the people who have these files so I can find out more about them. Is Nuclear Installer a program on your computer? Knowing who made it might help figure things out. It probably has some details inside. What folder is it installed in? Only three results came up for "Nuclear Installer," and one looks like real nuclear stuff, while the other two are software but I can't tell what they do. One is exactly what you asked for, but the other leads to a weird link (http://kinozoo.ru/pl/?q=installer+ui+mode+error+fm11) which I don't understand.

It sounds like the program that usually opens those files is set to this Nuclear Installer. Can you right click on either a .7z or a .zip file and choose "Open with..." from there? Then you can pick another app so it won't open just as the installer instead of opening normally.

Nope, it keeps coming back. I get what you mean, though there is no "start" or "begin" option for this. Weird right?

Try holding left shift and then right click. There is also this: https://www.howtogeek.com/261076/ho...n-...text-menu/ I haven't tried it, but looks like it can re-enable the open with option. I think the more concerning issue is this Nuclear Installer tho. Sounds dangerous.

If you have sensitive stuff to keep safe, it's best to wipe out your computer completely. That means changing the operating system, starting over with a clean setup, and making sure there are no bad programs or viruses before you even try using that confidential information.
