Hi, i have a gtx 1060 6gb, i5 6400 and 8gb ram and im getting fps drops on games such as infinite warfare, gta v, just cause 3, black ops 3, watch dogs 2 and more but wont keep listing, when i play gta v my cpu is at 100% and temp is 29 so not over heating, ive asked a few friends and they say im not bottlenecked but i dont know what else could be causing it, this is a serious issue since i cant enjoy some of my favourite games, i tried changing drivers multiple times no fix im considering buying a i7 6700k but before i spend the money want to make sure its not something that can be fixed, thanks

when the CPU reaches 100%, it indicates full utilization regardless of cooling status. also keep an eye on RAM consumption. 8 GB is adequate, but actual needs may vary based on your workload.

Isokolon :
if your CPU reaches 100% utilization, it means the processor is operating at full capacity regardless of cooling. also keep an eye on your RAM consumption. 8 GB is adequate but may vary based on your needs. so could an i7 be beneficial?

the temperature is 29? is it operating at full frequency? that was the setting when I played Skyrim (original), with ultra and high-res pack max limits set to 60, no stutters or temperature drops to 29

If you're using maximum CPU usage, your processor is operating at full capacity regardless of cooling. Also keep an eye on RAM consumption. 8 GB should suffice, but it might vary based on your needs. Will an i7 be beneficial? In theory, your i5 should handle most games smoothly without issues, but the reason for the high CPU usage needs investigation—could it be the game or background processes? Launch the task manager during gameplay and review the details.
