Are you required to refresh your profile information? (R5 3600 and b450 motherboard)
Hello! I was thinking about upgrading my PC. I was considering a R5 3600 and a B450 motherboard, but I realized some boards require the correct BIOS to boot. I’ll also need a second-generation CPU for updates and performance. I saw suggestions about USB BIOS flashback or an X570 board that comes pre-installed with the CPU, though they’re quite pricey in my country. I wanted to check some full build videos on the R5 CPU and B450 board, but they didn’t give much useful info since I already knew what I had. That’s why I came here for advice on this upgrade decision. The motherboard I was planning to buy is the GIGABYTE Aorus B450 Elite. Here are a few questions I need help with: 1) Can any B450 motherboard boot the Ryzen 5 3600 right out of the box without a BIOS update? Will I need to install new BIOS first for it to work? 2) If not, should I choose another board with USB BIOS flashback or an X570? 3) Is the Aorus B450 Elite a solid choice if I’m not planning overclocking?
Most B450 boards can work with 3D Gen Ryzen. It's a reliable board and I've built several projects on it. I'm not sure if it meets the BIOS needs for the third generation. Another choice could be the MSI B450 Tomahawk, which is also a solid alternative.
Yes, you can simply add the CPU and it should work fine. You won’t need to change your BIOS settings or wait for updates after installing the motherboard.
