Are you planning to create a budget for a gaming PC?
I understand budget builds often come up frequently. I'm curious about what people typically use for their gaming setup. Personally, I've experimented with PCpp projects staying under $650. Tonight's build made me think about what qualifies as a "gaming" machine. As someone who enjoys games and plays on various platforms, I'm trying to find a rig that can run most recent titles smoothly at around 50 frames per second or higher. Would you say it's necessary for a gaming rig to handle ultra-res 4K at 100fps?
For me, a gaming setup simply needs to support 45 to 60 frames per second in medium quality at 1080p resolution.
I'm mainly seeking this since I don't have a standard gaming setup right now (long story). Right now I'm running: Athlon IIx2-3.1 processor, 8GB DDR2 RAM, GeForce 240 (512GB, not 1GB), GPU, and a Dell 0f896n MB. I play many games on it—like LoL, SWTOR, PoE, DCUO, and even Warframe at mid-low settings, getting around 30-40fps. To me this still qualifies as a gaming rig, though not the best one. (Maybe because it was assembled from leftover parts when my previous one left me for someone else <_< )
A gaming PC refers to a computer designed primarily for playing video games, typically running smoothly (around 30 frames per second or higher).
It's been a while since Linus shared a gaming build on a limited budget. If I can assemble one from used parts—or better yet, more advanced ones for around $600 on PCPPS—I wonder what he might create. I’m thinking a solid, legitimate setup. Ebay and local shops are good sources. I’d love to see a video showing how someone could put together something with $600 from any vendor (as long as it’s not handed over for free).
A gaming rig refers to a computer specifically built for gaming purposes. This is why we call workstation PCs machines intended for work, often used in content production.
