I set up Windows 10, but everything seems damaged and the photo viewer isn’t functioning. I’m looking for a reliable third-party app that lets me view pictures without looking like an old 2000s photo viewer. Any suggestions?

Although Gimp seems like a low-quality tool, it only competes with Photoshop and another program whose name I can't recall. And its free version is a good deal.

I've seen this tool before. It worked well in the past, but it's disappointing that Microsoft didn't add support for animated GIFs in both the photo viewer and wallpaper features.

Photoshop isn't a competitor since it ruins GIMP. GIMP is quite poor.

Hey there, I use GIMP as a photo editor, not a viewer. Thanks for letting me know about it!

It depends on your goals; I find Photoshop less helpful in many cases, and constantly adjusting images on the console feels unnecessary. I also prefer working with non-GUI tools for graphics tweaks, though it’s just a bit inconvenient. Still, Photoshop isn’t terrible, but it could have improved.

If you prefer not to use the Metro-style "Photos" app, you can apply all its settings through the Default Programs app.

show photos clearly in apps, not just as icons—make sure the viewer displays images properly, not just a photo editor interface

It seems the current setup isn't functioning, so I'll need a different replacement.
