You have a gaming PC with two HDDs. You aim to set up a server that backs up data to one HDD while running Windows on the other. This setup is possible and you're ready for it. Virtual machines can help, but they may affect performance depending on how you configure them.

It seems you're suggesting it's not possible to run two operating systems simultaneously on just two drives using a single motherboard. You might consider buying an affordable PC on eBay for around $50 and repurposing it as a server.

Freenas is a solid choice for your setup. You can run both OSes on one drive while keeping a backup on another. It should support gaming and maintaining a cloud server in the background. If you need tips, let me know!

FreeNAS functions as a NAS operating system, not a general-purpose server OS.

You can either run the game yourself or simply copy the files.

There are several tools that function as cloud backups accessible from your second drive. You can use services like Backblaze, Carbonite, or Dropbox with cross-device sync to ensure you have access anywhere.

You can find a VPS at a low cost and host it for others. However, I already have my own private server that I manage for users, but I’m out of IP addresses. The current server is becoming too busy with traffic. I might need to reach out to others. Another concern is that the server is operating from home, which adds complexity. (Based in the UK)
