I am trying to find a fix for slow typing when using Sage 50 Accounting. The database is on a machine that only does one thing: storing my invoice data. When I type, there is a lot of delay which makes the text look weird or miss things. For instance, a line might read "Replaced #1 rear .axle brake shoe s, Remove d tires .t rouble getting wheel soff" instead of looking normal. After adding 8 gigabytes of RAM to make it 16 gigs total on the host computer, that didn't fix anything. I am wondering if moving the database to an M.2 SSD or switching the CPU from an i5 to a newer i7-7700K might help? My host runs Windows 10 64-bit, and my work machine also runs Windows 10 64-bit with an Intel i7-8750H and 16 gigs of RAM. I'm not sure if the problem is coming from the database connection, the network, or just the host computer itself. Any advice would be helpful so that I don't upgrade things unnecessarily when they won't work.

Is HDD or NVMe really the problem? Maybe it's actually your computer running too hot, or maybe you have a slow internet connection? Check how much work your CPU and other parts are doing, and look at which part of your system is being used the most right now.

@USAFRet - The Network uses Cat5 cables. I checked the Host's CPU usage, and you're right; nothing much happens there while working on the invoice screen in the software. My CPU stays low, never going above 25%, and memory sits steady at 50%. Even when not typing in the invoice window, both disk and network stay at zero percent. This proves the problem isn't with the Host or the Network because neither is active until the invoice gets processed or saved.

I figured it out, @USAFRet - There is an option in sage 50 to Turn on or Off list buttons. So instead of the software trying to search matching descriptions while typing it does not, This removed the typing lag instantly. But now i wont beable to find parts.. Im going to see if there is a workaround to only turn off Description matching and keep item matching on Thanks for you help! I'll update if I find a solution

yikes... It was eating a lot of resources while checking every single letter in the name.

Does picking one accounting software mean the rest of your company has to use it too? Just curious: does your job need that specific program, or are you free to pick another one?
