Hello everyone, I'm currently running a Gigabyte GTX1650 Super and have recently started playing Apex Legends.
My graphics card automatically set to High texture mode, telling the game it would only need 3-4GB of VRAM, which is perfect given the 1650 Super's 4GB GDDR6 capacity.
I experienced very poor frame rates and frequent stutters when close to enemies.
After a few matches, I opened MSI Afterburner to check the VRAM usage, which showed the game was consuming all 4GB of VRAM. So I adjusted the settings down.
When using Very Low, which the game claimed would use only 2GB VRAM, it still consumed all 4GB, leading to similar frame issues and stutters near opponents.
Apex Legends includes a texture setting called "No Texture Streaming Budget," which makes the game appear as if it's made from clay.
It doesn't lag under these settings—only using about 1800MB of VRAM, reaching a maximum of around 1900MB, except when textures are enabled, which is at its highest.
I'm curious why this happens. My card should be able to run smoothly at over 90 FPS on High settings, but it's using an unusually large amount of VRAM with the game. Even if I could get the game to work at Very Low, which should only use 2GB, I'd appreciate it.
I'm hoping someone can assist me. The recent big update hasn't resolved this issue.
This problem is specific to Apex Legends; other games seem to handle VRAM correctly.
Thanks!
