Hello! I am worried that I "overuse" my PC. Just by listening to its fans somethings clearly not right. I have cleaned the computer from potential dust, but still won't seem to help. Just trying to change one single thing on my Roblox avatar causes my fans to scream louder than me when my dad found out I was skipping school. It forces me to close and re-open my browser and only then it will work. I DO THAT EVERYTIME I CHANGE MY AVATAR. Just drawing a single line on Sketch-Up takes 1+ seconds to load and makes my fans go crazier than that one sixth-grade girl when her bestie is wearing the same shirt as her, even when she posted it on Snapchat before school, specifically saying that noone was allowed to wear the same shirt as her. There are a lot of background processes on my PC, according to my Task Manager, but even if I try closing them, they still find a way to sneak in there, like that crazy Ex that no matter how many social media's you block her on, she keeps creating more accounts to shit on you in the comments. And don't get me started on Minectaft! I used to be able to hit 3000FPS (not kidding) but now I can't even crack 500 with OptiFine, besides, my PC doesn't seem to like it either. Checking my Task Manager, it uses 4GB of ram even though I only allowed it 2GB. I know it's not a lot, since I have 16GB of ram, but I like multitasking, and that makes everything I do slower than granny's old Volvo 240 when she offers you a ride home from school. What do I do about this? Do I upgrade my PC or what? The Intel stock cooler works adequately for a 10400f but remains quite noisy and tends to get very loud. Would you like me to check your temperatures with Afterburner?
The advantage here is being able to hear the fan reacting to rising temperatures. Temperatures tend to rise quickly even with light tasks, and the fan automatically adjusts to keep things stable. My 240mm AIO and Noctua units start spinning up when I launch Chrome on my 12700k. Some premium systems let you fine-tune fan speeds to match temperatures, reducing noise. Still, the best approach is to choose quieter fans or cap their maximum speed right from the start. Don’t stress too much unless you notice it getting louder. If your CPU is pushing hard, it will slow down to protect itself—eventually it might even shut down. I wouldn’t invest in another cooler unless the noise bothers you. Instead, spend your money on quieter components. In my view, your CPU fan is likely functioning well (even without temperature checks), though Intel chips naturally heat up more since Haswell. Usually, fans are programmed to run at 80% above 60°C anyway. We don’t know the exact specs of your motherboard—max core temps, package details, or hotspot locations might affect performance. Some boards could cause fans to spin faster than needed, but manufacturers probably prefer caution. As @aisle9 pointed out, Intel cooling solutions like stock coolers are common, and what you’re seeing is quite typical.
