Are you considering a CPU upgrade and also upgrading your motherboard?
I use a PC with a 3060 Ti and an i5-8600K connected to my old Asus Prime B360M-A. My CPU struggles to match the GPU performance in most modern games, so I’m thinking about upgrading to an i7-9700K. Some advice suggests checking the motherboard as well. If you’re considering the upgrade kit featuring an i5-11600K and a Prime Z590P for $450, it looks like a solid option worth looking into. You're probably playing at a high resolution. For better performance, consider upgrading to a Ryzen processor. A 5600X with a B550 board offers similar results to the 11600K upgrade, and it also provides a path forward with future models like the 5900X or 5950X. With Intel, you're limited to options such as the 8-core 11700K, which isn't as powerful as the 11600K, or the 10900K, which removes PCIe Gen 4 support.
Yup, 1080p is great, but it comes at a higher cost. I was considering upgrading both if possible. For a Ryzen 5 3600, an Asus Tuf or MSI Mag B550 would likely fit well. Or maybe pairing a 5600X with a B450 could be a solid option too.
I had similar problems at 1080p with my 9600K and RTX 2060 Super. I originally fixed it by upgrading to a 1440p monitor so I became GPU bound. There's actually a 5600X + MSI B550-A Pro bundle on Amazon right now for $450: https://smile.amazon.com/Desktop-Process...099ZJ11CP/
I’ll lower some of the demanding CPU configurations temporarily or adapt for now. Alder Lake is expected in about a month and appears promising. Even without it, it may still impact pricing trends alongside Black Friday.
