Hello! I’m setting up a new CPU, board, RAM, NVMe drive, and power supply. Here are my intended specs: I7-10700k with MSI Z490-A PRO G.Skill Ripjaws 16 x 3200MHz (possibly a) A200 250GB Kingston Seasonic Focus GX 750W. I already have a GTX 1060 with 6GB RAM, but I’m wondering if this new build would be too much or cause a bottleneck for the GPU. If not, I’d prefer a 10600k processor as my backup plan. Thanks!
No clear benefit exists in merely enhancing the GPU without addressing other system components or software needs.
For gaming purposes only, not for streaming. Right now I can’t spend more than $1,500 on a new setup with a GPU. I might get a new GPU later. My current rig uses an i5-4460, an Asus B85M-G motherboard, and 16GB DDR3 RAM. That’s why I’m planning to build something new, hoping it will last 5 to 10 years. My budget for this upgrade is just $1,000 or less.
I believe a 220$ CPU (R5 3600 or wait for R5 5600 in Q1 2021) paired with around 110-120$ storage, a 100$ RAM (32Gigs), a 110$ motherboard, a case around 80$, a PSU, and plugging in the 1060 would work. I’d appreciate input from more thoughtful individuals.
That’s a solid idea but I’m leaning toward Intel right now. It’s not about disliking AMD, but I need something that lasts longer for gaming. I know AMD can do it too, but I still prefer Intel’s performance. Thanks!
