Are these safe temps ?
My RX570 is running at nearly 80°C under load. Are these temperatures normal or could I be in a risky situation? What are the recommended safe VRM temperatures and maximum fan speeds that won’t harm the GPU fans during regular gaming? Sorry if I seem unfamiliar with GPUs—I just bought it and have only played games before this, mostly on an APU.
These temperatures are suitable for your GPU when under less than 99% load. When discussing VRM temperatures, please use monitoring tools like hwinfo 64 while under load and share screenshots so we can review your readings for better assistance.
For fan curves on GPUs, I use MSI Afterburner, a free program that allows me to apply aggressive settings. At idle, the fan runs at 40% speed, increasing to 80% at 80°C and 100% at 90°C. It follows a straight line—just adjust as needed!
This setup has been in use for over a year with daily sessions up to 8 hours.
It won’t harm your GPU fans, though it may cause them to wear out slightly more than if they weren’t present. However, this is minimal. Fans are inexpensive and easily replaceable, while GPUs are much costlier. Just relax and enjoy your gaming!
I have a screenshot I previously linked in my question. The screenshot shows sensors for GPU VRM Temperature 1 and 2. I’m unsure whether to check VRM 1 or 2 since one has a high temperature while the other seems inactive. Thanks for the advice on fan curves—I’ll definitely stop worrying about it now.
If you’re referring to the VRM on my motherboard, I don’t know if there are sensors there, so I can’t monitor it. I have a B350M motherboard. I was just asking about the VRM on the GPU.
Edit: tried Black Desert at very high settings and spam a skill, temperatures went up.
