I just tweaked my 4690k using MSI gaming 5 z97 M. I wanted to confirm those changes weren’t too drastic. Also, is it normal for a 4690k running at 4.3 with 1.175v to perform well?

It seems fine to you. A voltage of 1.175V at 4.3GHz on a 4690k is quite good and stays within a safe range for CPU health. I'm also using 6700K at 4.7GHz with 1.315V.
